Your driver will pick you up at your hotel in Bali and take you across the Bali Strait by ferry to East Java. After arriving, you’ll check in at a villa where dinner and a night of rest will prepare you for the hike.
Before dawn, you’ll begin your guided walk under the stars, with a headlamp and gas mask provided for safety. As you reach the crater of Kawah Ijen, you’ll see the rare natural phenomenon of the blue fire glowing in the darkness — a moment found in very few places on Earth.
When daylight arrives, the scenery changes completely. The turquoise sulfur lake appears in contrast to the volcanic cliffs, while you’ll also have the chance to observe the work of the local sulfur miners, who bring a human perspective to this extraordinary environment.

Pickup at your hotel in Bali

Your private driver collects you at 9 am for the journey to Bali’s western harbor. Around midday, pause for lunch — included in your tour — before boarding the ferry to Java and continuing to the Ijen area.

Arrive at a local villa and check into your private room around 2 pm. Rest, shower, and enjoy a freshly prepared dinner — all included with your overnight stay — giving you the chance to recharge before the night adventure.
Midnight Trek

Just after midnight, equipped with gas mask and headlamp, begin the one-hour guided hike up Kawah Ijen. Walk under a sky full of stars until you reach the crater rim, where the Blue Fire phenomenon comes to life.

Around 3:00 am descend into the crater to witness the surreal blue flames — a rare natural wonder only visible before sunrise in the depths of Kawah Ijen.
Sunrise & Sulfur Lake

Around 5:00 am as dawn breaks, admire the turquoise sulfur lake glowing against steep volcanic cliffs — one of the most breathtaking crater views in all of Asia. A simple breakfast is served to fuel the return hike.
Life in the Sulfur Mines
08:00 am
On your way back, witness the sulfur mines up close, where workers face extreme conditions to extract bright yellow sulfur from the crater. By 8:30 am, return to the villa for a few hours of rest before departure.
Return to Bali
12:00 pm – 05:00 pm
After resting at the villa, check out around midday and begin your return journey. Your driver will collect you and take you to the harbor, where the ferry back to Bali is included. You’ll arrive at your hotel around 5 pm.

Bring warm clothes, comfortable hiking shoes, and a small backpack for personal items. We provide gas masks, headlamps, water, and snacks for the hike.
This is a private experience — you’ll have your own driver and a dedicated local guide. No large groups, so you can enjoy the hike at your own pace.
The hike to Kawah Ijen takes about 1 hour to the crater rim on a steady uphill trail. It’s moderately challenging but doable for most people with average fitness. Our guide will assist you throughout, and all safety equipment is provided.
You’ll witness the rare Blue Fire phenomenon, explore the sulfur mines where locals work under extreme conditions, and see the turquoise sulfur lake at sunrise — all in one journey.
This is a 1-day experience starting with pick-up in Bali and finishing with drop-off at your hotel the next day.
